As we look back on an amazing year for the Civilian-Soldier Alliance (CivSol), we are incredibly thankful to our friends, family, and supporters for making this critical work possible. At this critical time in our work, we urge you to consider making a contribution to the Operation Recovery Resident Organizer Program in Fort Hood, Texas. Help us carry this important service member and veteran led organizing project forward. We need to raise $6,000 by January in order to make this program a reality.
Army vet Jim Morse and Baltimore CivSol member Sergio España share their thoughts on the importance of veteran participation in the occupy movements and the historical necessity to further the bonds between civilian and veteran-led movements.
“I am a two-time Iraq war veteran, and this is the only occupation I believe in,” IVAW organizer Joseph Carter said in a post-march speech at New York’s Zuccotti Park, site of the Occupy Wall Street encampment. “For too long our voices have been silence, suppressed, and ignored in favor of the voices of Wall Street!”

Killeen, TX- It’s hot. The days are long and filled to the brim. The gears are turning. The people are moving. We are building. The strategy is evolving. We are all learning. We are all growing. We are changing each other as we transform ourselves.
I came to this base town to support service members’ right to heal. I wanted to meet service members where they’re at, and Fort Hood is one of the best places to do it.
Operation Recovery is on the ground at Ft Hood! Learn more by watching this video about IVAW's Operation Recovery Campaign and meet the veteran organizers behind this effort.
In the fight for service members right to heal IVAW members built a guard tower out side the East Gate of Ft. Hood to put Gen. Donald Campbell Jr. on watch. After requesting to meet with Gen. Campbell for over a month through certified mail and through email (to including the hundreds of emails members and supporters have sent to bring attention to our request) we were ignored
Our target —General Campbell — has now been made aware of our concerns through our many attempts to contact him. He has our contact information and can meet with us at any time. Until then, we will continue to escalate tactics. We will put public pressure on General Campbell to meet our demand for service members’ right to heal.
